Device Setup
Each device has its own setup requirements. Find yours below to make sure everything is configured correctly before pairing.
Apple TV+
Tap Pair on your Apple TV. A 4-digit PIN will appear on your TV screen. Enter it in the app and you're connected.
You may want to pair AirPlay separately for volume control — just tap Pair again and choose AirPlay when prompted.
Samsung TV+
Before pairing, make sure your Samsung TV has access notifications enabled:
Settings > General > External Device Manager > Device Connect Manager > Access Notification > Always On
When you tap Pair, your TV will show "Allow ATVRemote to connect?" — press Allow on your TV remote. That's it.
LG TV+
An "Accept" prompt appears on your TV when you tap Pair. Click Accept on the TV and you're connected.
Roku+
No pairing needed. Roku devices are open by default and connect instantly once discovered on your network.
Sony TV+
Sony TVs use a Pre-Shared Key for authentication. You need to set this up in your TV settings first:
Settings > Network > Home Network Setup > IP Control > Pre-Shared Key
Enter the same key in the app when prompted during pairing.
Android TV / Fire TV / Google TV+
When you tap Pair, a 6-digit PIN will appear on your TV screen. Enter it in the app to complete pairing.
Philips TV+
A PIN will appear on your TV screen when you tap Pair. Enter it in the app to complete pairing.
Vizio TV+
Make sure the TV is on the same network as your Mac. Control may require enabling the SmartCast API in your TV settings.
Hisense TV+
Make sure remote control is enabled in your TV's network settings so the app can discover and connect to it.
Chromecast+
Chromecast devices are discovered automatically on your network. Basic playback and volume control are supported.
General Troubleshooting
Device not showing up in scan+
Make sure the device is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac. Some devices also need network remote access enabled in their settings.
Commands feel slow or delayed+
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the device. The app keeps a persistent connection, and if it dropped (TV went to sleep, network hiccup), reconnecting usually fixes the lag.
